Overview:
To respond to an ever-changing, uncertain environment, human commanders must maintain a general awareness of the battlespace, and yet focus on relevant contextual information when making decisions, without distraction from peripheral events. Decision cycles have shortened, available information has expanded, and missions have become increasingly variegated. The repertoire of traditional battle functions has expanded to include new types of operations, such as ad hoc responses to terrorism, response to biochemical threats, and operations other than those of war and coalition operations. To meet these new challenges, the commander needs enhanced decision support. Yet providing this automation becomes increasingly difficult as uncertainty increases.

Furthermore, while the volume of raw information available for command decisions at all echelons is rapidly increasing, its coordination and dissemination as useful information becomes far more difficult, leading to the problem of "data overload and information starvation." Data is often fragmented, multi-modal, uncertain, and distributed across disparate sources.

The next generation of battlefield information systems must meet the twin challenges of scaling up to accommodate the explosion of cheap ubiquitous sensors, while extending access to increasingly heterogeneous information sources, from the Air Force's own legacy systems to those of other cooperating services and nations. These new sources of information must not only be accessed; they must be converted from mere data into sources of usable, actionable knowledge.

To address these issues in high-level information fusion, we are conducting a multidisciplinary research effort involving computer scientists, engineers and cognitive psychologists, from Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, the Munitions Directorate of Air Force Research Laboratory (MN/AFRL), Rome Labs, and Northrup Grumman. We will combine our various expertise to develop the next generation of information fusion systems.

Overview:
The World Wide Web is changing. While once conceived of and implemented as a collection of static pages for browsing, it now promises to become a web of services -- a dynamic aggregate of interactive, automated, and intelligent services that interoperate via the Internet. Multiple web services will interoperate to perform tasks, provide information, transact business, and generally take action for users, dynamically and on demand. Such prospects are especially important for the e-business community, providing opportunities for conducting business faster, more efficiently, and with greater ease than ever before. For instance, the opportunity to manage supply chains dynamically, to achieve market advantage, is expected to increase productivity and add value to products. On the other hand, automatic management of supply chains presents new challenges.

One of the problems posed by the web of services model is the need for a service to match service requestors with service providers, especially when -- as in real web-life conditions -- services are undiscovered, new, and/or coming and going on a rapid basis.

To these ends, we have developed our Semantic Matchmaker, an entity that will allow web services to locate other services, provide a solution to the problem of matching, and allow for full implementation of interoperative service providers on the web. Here we introduce DAML-S, a DAML-based language for describing service capabilities. We show how semantic matching between advertisements and requests is performed.

Overview:
The focus of this project is to develop models of human-agent teamwork for implementation in software agent systems. Both human collaboration and software agent collaboration have been thoroughly studied, but there is relatively little prior work on hybrid human-agent teamwork. Some research has identified the roles that agents could play in hybrid teams (e.g. supporting individual team members, being a teammate, or supporting the team as a whole). Some other work has investigated trust concepts as the fundamental building block for effective human-agent teamwork, or posited the types of shared knowledge that promote mutual understanding between cooperating humans and agents. However many of the facets of human agent teamwork models, such as communication protocols for forming mutual intelligibility, performing team monitoring to assess progress, forming joint goals, addressing task interdependencies in hybrid teamwork, are still unexplored. This project is part of IBM's International Technology Alliance in Network and Information Sciences (ITA), a consortium of leading academic and industry partners performing research in network-centric systems

Associated lab(s) / group(s):
Advanced Agent - Robotics Technology Lab

Overview:
The Matchmaker is an information agent that helps make connections between agents that request services and agents that provide services. The Matchmaker system allows agents to find each other by providing a mechanism for registering each agent's capabilities. An agent's registration information is stored as an "advertisement," which provides a short description of the agent, a sample query, input and output parameter declarations, and other constraints.

When the Matchmaker agent receives a query from a user or another software agent, it searches its dynamic database of "advertisements" for a registered agent that can fulfill the incoming request. The Matchmaker thus serves as a liason between an agent that requests services and an agent that can fulfill requests for services.

Overview:
To address the challenges of urban search and rescue, we propose Hybrid Teams of Autonomous Agents: Cyber Agents, Robots and People (CARPs) consisting of large number of these entities that are distributed in space, time, capability, and roles. We move away from the traditional human-controlled design of automation, where automated systems are subordinate to their human controllers who give them their goals and tasks and manage task execution. Instead, we advocate a cooperative control (adjustable autonomy) paradigm where current notions of organizational control and system interactions are extended based on adaptive sharing.

The various members of CARP groups, be they human, robots or cyber-agents, share common goals; initiative for communication and action, responsibility for coherent group activity; information on the environment, mission, situation; and share in helping each other in overcoming barriers to achievement of common goals. Ad hoc interoperability across different agents, teams and organizations are brought together "as is", and co-adaptation to each other addresses the challenges present in such large-scale, uncertain coordination domains.

Overview:
The WARREN system, an application of the RETSINA multi-agent architecture, deploys a number of different, autonomous software agents that acquire information from and monitor changes to stock reporting databases. These agents also interpret stock information, suggest the near future of an investment, and track and filter relevant financial news articles for the user to read. Since the WARREN system is designed to monitor the dynamic processes of the market, it is also designed to function under conditions of extremem uncertainty.

The WARREN system uses Matchmaker; an information agent that helps make connections between agents that request services and agents that provide services.

It's amazing she has time for anything else, but apparently she does, because these projects aren't enough of a challenge for Price, who also runs her conspiracy ridden Citizen's For Legitimate Government website:

A multi-partisan activist group established to expose and resist US imperialism, corpora-terrorism, and the New World Order
She's very careful to include in the 911 Oddities section Craig Lazo's retarded "Killtown's Smoking Guns":

"150+ 9/11 'Smoking Guns' Found in the Mainstream Media By Killtown 29 Dec 2005 "
Citizens' For Legitimate Government is possibly the first website to host Craig Lazo's "Killtown" work and he returned the 'link love':
"Oddities" Information Zone - Citizens For Legitimate Government
If Lori's website was the first to host "Killtown", then she bears most of the responsibility for building the credibility that allowed the trolling fuck to run amok on the Intewebs for almost a decade. To assist Lazo and his other creeps, Price very helpfully put up this petition where the trusting can drop their own docs and Team Creep can pretend they're leet investigators. For cheap laughs you'll see one of Lazo's webhosts as the second signature:

Team Creep knows they have nothing to fear from fellow sharks.

But there are larger fish in the Internet ocean Price should be wary of offending. On her Facebook page, a mix of Occupy, anti-SOPA and environmentalism sprinkled with 9/11 conspiracy tinfoil, she's a ballsy bitch, using the brand of some Upstanding Netizens as her personal avatar:

Her org may be latest is loser trying to hijack Anonymous; she should take a very carefully look at what happened to the Oregon Tea Party when they tried this. Since so many of this group's members are both Oregon residents and Teafag sympathizers, everyone involved might want to take notes.

I don't know enough about it to comment, but I do know Lyndon
Larouche is CIA.

:)-Lori Price
How the fuck does Price know Larouche is CIA?  Seriously.   Bitch just throws that out and no one questions it.   And if she believes that, why does "smileyindaunted" post an unchallenged apologist email pimping Larouche less than a week earlier?

You've heard a lot of mixed info on Lyndon LaRouche for sure. This is
because his research department is phenomenal but his conclusions as
to what to do about he world he paints with an accurate brush are
questionable. It IS he that reports this information. Here is the
url. Take it in context with the following two items.

Re: [psy-op] Re: ahem...Loooorrriiiiii

I would be interested to hear how she KNOWS LaRouche is CIA.  I find that impossible to believe.

I'd like the LaRouche ideas to have a chance, to be

Re: [psy-op] Re: LaRouche

LaRouche served time for conviction under a strange law that had never been used in the way it was used against him and his group.  If anyone has ever subscribed to any of the EIR or New Federalist publications, the "organizers" get your phone number somehow and start calling to give you updates on the world situation.  Then they beg for money.  They aren't content with subscriptions.  Well, shortly before the prosecutions the group had decided to relocate offices from New York to the Washington, D.C. area and started calling people for money.  They came up with a scheme to borrow the money and were supposedly paying it back on a monthly basis once the move had been paid for.  At some point, the bank where they had their accounts lost or stole funds that had been deposited and almost immediately involuntary bankruptcy proceedings were brought against the organization because of checks that had bounced.  They were first prosecuted criminally in Massachusetts federal court, where the judge found prosecutorial misconduct.  Chargest were dismissed, only to be brought again in state court in Virginia, based on the same facts.

Lyndon LaRouche has an interesting background, having come from a Quaker family who made shoes and educated as a child in the classical method of abstract reasoning.  He became interested in mathematics and economics and was a professor at Columbia in the 1960's during the height of the anti-Vietnam protests.  It was at that point he realized that the same guys who were making money off the war were funding the anti-war movement through "charitable" foundations.  By then he had quite a following of his students from Columbia, most of whom are still with him today.  They really don't trust anyone who wasn't in from the beginning, so I think the group will dissolve if LaRouche ever dies.  He must be approaching 80 by now.

They are meticulous researchers who like to know how the money works, and they are always tracing the roots of the money farther and farther back.  They have been accused of being anti-Semitic, but most of their best researchers (like Anton Chaitkin and Jeff Steinberg) are Jewish.  They are very moralistic and humanistic.  Their best research was called Dope, Inc., which details the corporations and banks which make the biggest profits from the drug trade.  They recognize that the British government was taken over by the Venetian oligarchy, which invented modern banking at the Bank of Venice, which moved to the Bank of  Amsterdam.  When the British Act of Settlement occurred in 1688, the deal that was made was the British government loans would be placed on hold if the Dutch monarchs were put on the throne of England and the Bank of England was created.  So the same bankers moved from Amsterdam to London.  These are the same families now running the U.S. Federal Reserve system.

Where LaRouche loses me when he starts talking about how wonderful FDR was, even though we know the Roosevelts and Delanos were smack in the middle of the drug trade.  But I appreciate the information that LaRouche has made public and admire the fact that he and his team never give up no matter how much is thrown at them.  I don't believe everything they espouse, but I don't have any trouble listening to it and keeping what seems true while discounting the rest.  I think history is extremely important, and they understand history better than anyone I've ever read.

The last of the group who were convicted to be released was Michael Billington, who got a 77-year sentence for this trumped-up securities fraud charge based on the loans that would have been repaid, but for the involuntary bankruptcy brought against them.  You can read about those charges at:

It's my opinion that the people who targeted the group were those who he terms "Dope, Inc."--the banks and corporate empire that are engaged in money-laundering and have a long history of involvement in the drug trade.  This includes the Meyer Lansky associates and their successors who set up the Anti-Defamation League, which is probably LaRouche's biggest enemy.

Price isn't completely talking out of her ass.  According to that other wiki

U.S. sources told the Washington Post in 1985 that the LaRouche organization had assembled a worldwide network of government and military contacts, and that his researchers sometimes supplied information to government officials. Bobby Ray Inman, the CIA's deputy director in 1981 and 1982, said LaRouche and his wife had visited him offering information about the West German Green Party, and a CIA spokesman said LaRouche met Deputy Director John McMahon in 1983 to discuss one of LaRouche's trips overseas. An aide to William Clark said when LaRouche's associates discussed technology or economics, they made good sense and seemed to be qualified. Norman Bailey, formerly with the National Security Council, said in 1984 that LaRouche's staff comprised "one of the best private intelligence services in the world"; he said, "They do know a lot of people around the world. They do get to talk to prime ministers and presidents." Several government officials feared a security leak from the government's ties with the movement.[25]
